The main purpose of any resume is to make clear a candidate’s knowledge, experience and accomplishments. 1. Personal Data

2. Professional Objective

“The information must be presented objectively,” says Kelly. For example: “business executive” or “finance executive”.

3. Summary of qualifications

This summary should be in topics, with the knowledge and main achievements, always related to the position desired by the professional. “You should avoid mentioning behavioral skills, such as being ‘communicative’ or being ‘enthusiastic’, among others, because it doesn’t show how you can contribute to the bottom line of the business you are operating in.”

4. Professional Experience

This topic should be in descending chronological order in the curriculum, as follows: company name, time worked (using month / year structure), job title and scope (to whom reported or reported, number of people on staff, and key responsibilities).

5. Achievements

Next, it is important to highlight two or three accomplishments in topics that should be clearly described. What did you develop, how did you develop and what results were brought to the organization. “For example: the elaboration of the commercial strategy and its implementation in the foreign market that made the company conquer or export to more than 20 countries”, explains Kelly.

6. Academic background and languages

Their academic background also goes in descending chronological order – that is, from newest to oldest. Name the courses you took, the institution you attended, and the year you completed.

In terms of languages, it is important to make clear your level of knowledge in each language. Think that if you are interviewed, you may have to prove this information.

7. Additional Information

In this field you should highlight what is interesting and relevant to working life, but which did not fit the previous fields: relevant courses (those that were held more than eight years ago should be discarded), participation in committees, entities or forums of your practice area, volunteer activities, activities parallel to corporate life as a teacher, counselor or consultant. Warning: Avoid describing hobbies, wage claims and referrals. “This information will be requested by the recruiter in due course”, concludes the expert.
