Much is said about how we should express ourselves to ensure optimal communication. However, communication is a two-way street. Knowing how to listen is as important as knowing how to talk. To listen effectively and ensure interaction with your callers, however, you need to take some care. See which ones are the main ones.
Give real attention to the speaker
If you have to explain yourself or justify yourself after the other person has spoken and you don’t want to miss a thing, write it down, and only after he or she has finished you go to your list and start talking without interrupting and covering everything. has been lifted. This is critical when we are facing a conflict, particularly with a client or our leader, in meetings. When everyone speaks at the same time, we have no dialogue.
Don’t impose your point of view
Dialogue presupposes discussion of various aspects, there is not always right and wrong. Depending on the situation, there is the most appropriate, which will cause the least negative impact. In addition, the other can bring a look that you had not thought of before and would not think. We have to show respect to the person and what they always talk about. Otherwise, others will avoid talking to you.
Be aware of what is being said
Mostly, be sensitive to perceive other details in the speaker, such as voice, word choice, tone, rhythm, body language – when in person. There are many things that are not said. If we are not 100% attentive, we will lose the subtleties and the true message that the person wants to convey, and often they do not know how or do not have courage. This is common in constructive feedback.
Do not prejudge what is being said
Do not value the image of the other or the way you speak.
Know how to ask questions
They are important in really understanding the situation that is being posed and, depending on what, deciding which direction to take.
When you are finished reading these actions, you can even tell me that it is obvious what I put in and that you can hear, but it is not that simple. Most of the time, we know what we have to do, how we should act, but from theory to practice there is a range, which can vary greatly in size, it will depend on our self-knowledge and how well we manage our ego, beliefs and values.
When that doesn’t happen, the theory goes back to the background and what we see is people trying to talk to people who don’t want to hear, they want to talk!
